Vetkuro is available now. Download it for free on the App Store or Google Play and join our public beta! Once you're in, create your account, set up your profile, and you're ready to go. To record your first session, simply choose your vehicle, select a track, and hit "Start Session." After the session, dive into your data - analyze your performance, compare lap times, and see how you stack up against other drivers.

How does Vetkuro work?

Vetkuro records your session from the phone's GPS and motion sensors, or from external devices you pair: a GPS receiver for more precise position, an OBD-II adapter for what the car reports, a heart-rate strap. While you drive, the app splits laps at the layout's start-finish line and shows a live delta against the reference lap you picked. After the session you get lap and sector times, the driven line on the map and graphs of speed and acceleration. The web analyzer at app.vetkuro.com goes further: lap against lap on one distance axis, zone times and the theoretical best lap, onboard video in sync with the graphs.

Do I need an internet connection to use all features?

An internet connection is needed to download the track list. Recording works offline, and so does the analysis of your own recorded sessions in the app.

How does Vetkuro ensure the security and privacy of my data?

We secure your data with encryption and limit access strictly to authorized personnel, ensuring full compliance with global privacy standards. Your information is shared only with your explicit consent and in accordance with our privacy policy, which we encourage you to review to understand your rights.

What are the costs associated with using Vetkuro?

Nothing. Vetkuro is in public beta: recording, analysis and the web analyzer are free, with no lap limit, and there is no paid tier.

Is there a community or forum where I can discuss with other Vetkuro users?

Is Vetkuro for professionals only?

No. It is for track day drivers, riders, karters and amateur racers who do not have a race engineer. A phone alone is enough to start. External devices add data when you want more.

Does Vetkuro work on a motorcycle or a kart?

Yes. When you add a vehicle in the app you pick a car, a motorcycle or a go-kart (ATVs and trucks are there too), and the rest works the same way: laps split at the line, the live delta, zones, the theoretical best and the video overlay. On a motorcycle, mount the phone firmly where it can see the sky, or put an external GPS receiver on the bike; the phone then only has to stay within Bluetooth range. On a kart circuit a lap often lasts under a minute, and a phone at about 1 Hz records a point every 15 to 25 m: enough for lap times, coarse for corners. A 10 to 25 Hz receiver is the upgrade that matters most here. OBD-II engine data is mostly a car feature: most motorcycles and karts have no port it can read.

Can I use the lap timer on any track?

Absolutely! The lap timer is designed to work on any racetrack. You can select from our pre-loaded tracks in the database or use the custom track feature to add a new track.

How can I add my own track?

In the app, open Explore, go to Tracks and tap Add track. To add a layout to a track that already exists, open the track and tap Add layout. You can do both in the web analyzer as well. New tracks and layouts appear on the community list straight away. The step-by-step guide is Create a track layout.

How often is the track database updated?

We add circuits regularly, and drivers add the rest. If the circuit you are looking for is not there yet, add it yourself in a few minutes.

Can I share the custom tracks I create with other users?

Community-created tracks and layouts are automatically available to others. Layouts and tracks verified by us are marked as "official", and user-created tracks are visible in the “community” list.

Do you support open-circuit layouts?

Yes. A layout is one of two types: Closed loop: one start-finish line defines the lap. The usual setting for a permanent circuit. Sector lines can split the lap in between. Point to point: a separate start and finish line, with sector lines in between if you want them. Used for hill climbs and rally stages.

Is my track in the database?

Probably. The database holds circuits such as Autodrom Słomczyn, Silesia Ring, Tor Poznań, Spa-Francorchamps and Vallelunga, each with its own page. Search by name in the app or on the Tracks page. If a circuit is missing, add it yourself.

Can I check my custom layout before saving it?

Yes. While you build a layout, the start line, finish line and sector lines appear on the map as you place them, so you can check every one before you save.

What is the difference between official and community tracks?

Official ones were verified by us. Tracks and layouts added by users appear in the community list straight away.

Can I draw a track layout in the browser?

Yes. The web app has a layout editor: you click on the map to place the timing lines, say which way the track runs before the first one is drawn, and finish with the finish line. You can preview any layout on a map before saving it, and give it the track length so lap distances match reality. Your layout carries your name and the date. Anyone can copy it as a starting point for their own, and you can delete yours as long as no session has used it yet.

How accurate is the lap timing in Vetkuro?

It depends mostly on the GPS. A phone's built-in GNSS typically updates about once a second: enough for lap and sector times, but a braking point falls between two samples. An external receiver at 10 to 25 Hz places the line crossing, the braking point and the apex far more precisely. Vetkuro interpolates the moment you cross the line between two recorded points, so the lap time is not rounded to the nearest sample.

Is there a limit to how much data I can log in a single session?

Currently, there is no fixed limit to the amount of data you can log in a session. However, the amount of data you can store may depend on your device's storage capacity.

What kind of telemetry data can I log with the data logger?

With only a phone: position, speed and acceleration from its sensors. Pair devices over Bluetooth and the same session picks up more: an external GPS receiver for more precise position, an OBD-II adapter for RPM, throttle position, engine load and coolant temperature, a heart-rate strap. Direct CAN input, brake pressure and temperatures are what Akso and Senso, our own hardware, are being built for.

How can I improve GPS accuracy while using Vetkuro?

To enhance GPS accuracy with Vetkuro, ensure your device (whether it's your smartphone or an external GPS unit) has a clear view of the sky. Placing it on the dashboard of your car is often the best choice to avoid obstructions that can block the signal from satellites. Avoid keeping the device in areas prone to interference, such as pockets or glove compartments. For even greater accuracy, consider using a high-quality external GPS receiver that can provide more precise data at a higher update rate.

Do I need an account to record a session?

Yes. Create a free account in the app, and recording works with your phone's GPS from the first session. The same account opens your sessions in the web analyzer.

Is there a limit on laps or sessions?

No. Recording is free with no lap limit during the public beta.

How does Vetkuro know where a lap starts and ends?

From the track layout. It detects the start-finish line from your position and splits laps on its own, so there is no button to press and no beacon or transponder to install. Sectors work the same way, from points fixed in the layout.

Why does my lap time differ from the official timing?

Official timing reads a transponder at the finish line. Vetkuro works out the crossing from GPS position, so the result depends on the sample rate and the signal: the faster the receiver, the closer the recorded points are to the line. At 180 km/h a 10 Hz receiver records a point every 5.0 m, a 25 Hz one every 2.0 m, and Vetkuro interpolates the crossing between them.

What is the live delta?

A running difference between your current lap and your reference lap, shown on screen while you drive. Negative means you are ahead, positive means you are behind. You pick the reference before you roll out: this session's best, today's best, your own history, or another driver's public lap.

Which external GPS receivers work with Vetkuro?

RaceBox Mini, Mini S and Micro, the QSTARZ BL-1000GT and a 25 Hz NMEA receiver, at 10 to 25 Hz depending on the model. The full list of GPS receivers, OBD-II adapters, cameras and heart-rate monitors is on the Supported devices page. Pair the receiver in session setup and the setup screen shows when it is connected and has a fix.

What does OBD-II add, and will it work with my car?

It adds what the car reports about itself: RPM, throttle position, engine load and coolant temperature. It works with most cars built from 2008 and one of these adapters: Carista, vLinker MC+, FD+ and BM+, iCar Pro 2S, NEXAS NexLink. Which channels appear is decided by the car. Brake pressure and gear are often not available.

Yes, a GoPro Hero 9 or newer. Start and stop it from the app, and the clip attaches to the session automatically. Moving the cursor on the delta curve moves the footage with it.

Can I record with two cameras at once?

Yes, since version 1.0.10. Pair an external camera (a GoPro for now) with the phone's own and record both. Start and stop apply to both, and if one drops out the other keeps recording. Two is the maximum.

Does Vetkuro rotate my GoPro video?

It does it for you. The orientation is read from the clip's own sensor data and a flag in the file header is changed, so there is no re-encoding and no quality loss. You can also rotate any clip left or right by hand.

Can I record heart rate?

Yes, with any strap that uses the standard Bluetooth LE heart-rate profile. Heart rate is stored on the session so you can read it against lap times, and if you switch it on, Vetkuro also saves the session and its heart rate to Apple Health or Google Health Connect. Vetkuro is a lap timer, not a medical device.

Can Vetkuro record brake pressure and temperatures?

Not from a phone or standard OBD-II. We are developing hardware for it: Senso, a sensor hub that reads analog and digital inputs and thermocouples at up to 200 Hz, and the Akso logger, which puts that data on the same timeline as GPS. The first revision was built for instrumented brake pad tests with Lava. This hardware is in development and is not for sale.

Where should I put the phone?

Where it can see the sky, on the dash. Not in a pocket or the glove compartment. Wait for the GPS fix before you start recording.

What does the telemetry overlay show?

A speed gauge, a g-force box showing cornering and braking load, and a lap timer with the lap number and running time. You switch each of them on or off. The Vetkuro logo stays on every export. Each widget has its own place in the layout, and the layout follows the shape of the clip: wide for a landscape clip, tall for a vertical one.

Can I export more than one lap at once?

Yes. Export one lap, or every lap the clip covers as a single file, with the lap number changing on the frame as the lap does.

Does the overlay work with HDR footage?

Yes. Modern phones and action cameras record HDR, which looks washed out wherever the player does not understand it. Vetkuro converts to SDR when it renders, on both iOS and Android, so the clip looks the same everywhere you post it.

Can I export a vertical clip for a story?

Yes. Film vertically and the overlay is laid out for the tall frame, so nothing is cropped and no gauge ends up half off the screen.

Where does the exported clip go?

To your camera roll. If that permission is refused the export still finishes, so a dialog never costs you the render.

Is my original video uploaded, or a compressed copy?

The original. Vetkuro warns you before sending or downloading one over mobile data, and tells you when there is no room left rather than failing silently.

How do I compare two laps?

Open the session in the app or in the web analyzer, pick a reference lap and another lap. You get a delta graph, a track map and a sector table on the same distance axis. Where the delta line climbs, you lost time, and the map shows which corner it was. Comparison works on mobile too, but the web analyzer is more comfortable on a large screen and offers more options.

Can I compare laps from different days, or against another driver?

Yes. You can compare laps inside one session and sessions from different days. You can also compare your lap against another driver's on the same circuit, as long as that driver's session is public.

What is theoretical best lap, and how is it calculated?

Your fastest time in each zone of the lap, from any lap of the session, added together. A zone is one corner, or the straight between two of them, and Vetkuro works the boundaries out from laps actually driven on the layout rather than from a line someone drew. The gap to your personal best is what you leave on the table by not stringing those zones together. Vetkuro shows it as optimal lap time.

Does Vetkuro tell me what to change?

Not yet. For now Vetkuro shows data calculated from what was recorded: deltas, sector times, speed, G-forces and more. You can draw conclusions about what to improve from it, and the analysis of the run is up to you. We want to build a mechanism that does part of this automatically. We are working on it, and we want to do it carefully rather than quickly.

How do I know if I got faster or the track did?

Each session keeps its conditions with the data. Weather comes from an external weather service, and the vehicle is the one you set up before the session. When you put two laps side by side you can see what changed between them.

Should I use the phone or the browser?

Both. The phone records and shows the lap live. The web analyzer at app.vetkuro.com is for working through the data afterwards on a large screen.

What is a zone, and how is it different from a sector?

A sector is yours: you draw the timing lines on the layout and they split the lap into named parts. A zone is finer and automatic. It covers one corner the way drivers take it, opening before the braking point or at the turn-in and closing where the car has stopped both accelerating and cornering, or it covers the straight between two corners. Corners taken on one braking count as a single zone. Vetkuro works the zone boundaries out from laps that were actually driven on that layout. Nothing is drawn by hand and nothing is imported from a track database, so a layout nobody has driven yet has no zones at all.

Why did my zone times change after the session was processed again?

Because the gates moved. Vetkuro places them from the laps it has seen on that layout, so as more laps arrive it can place them better and publishes a new version of the set. Sessions are then timed again against it. While a set is still settling the analyzer says so above the zone table, and tells you which gate version the session was timed with.

Who can see my sessions?

Every session carries a visibility you set. Private means only you and the drivers you share it with by name. Link only means anyone holding the link and nobody who does not have it. Public means anyone, and the session can appear where public sessions appear. The level shows as a chip on the session list, so you can see what each recording is set to without opening it.

What does "Link only" mean exactly?

The session is not listed anywhere and does not turn up in search, but anyone you hand the link to can open it. Change the level back to private and the link stops working.

How do I share a session with my coach?

Share it with them by name rather than making it public. You get a list of exactly who holds the session, and you can take it back. They find it beside their own sessions, under the ones shared with them.

It covers one corner the way drivers take it, opening before the braking point or at the turn-in and closing where the car has stopped both accelerating and cornering, or it covers the straight between two corners. Corners taken on one braking count as a single zone.
Vetkuro works the zone boundaries out from laps that were actually driven on that layout. Nothing is drawn by hand and nothing is imported from a track database, so a layout nobody has driven yet has no zones at all.
Why did my zone times change after the session was processed again?

Because the gates moved. Vetkuro places them from the laps it has seen on that layout, so as more laps arrive it can place them better and publishes a new version of the set. Sessions are then timed again against it.
While a set is still settling the analyzer says so above the zone table, and tells you which gate version the session was timed with.

Who can open a session, and how to keep one to yourself.

Who can see my sessions?

Every session carries a visibility you set. Private means only you and the drivers you share it with by name. Link only means anyone holding the link and nobody who does not have it. Public means anyone, and the session can appear where public sessions appear.
The level shows as a chip on the session list, so you can see what each recording is set to without opening it.
What does "Link only" mean exactly?

The session is not listed anywhere and does not turn up in search, but anyone you hand the link to can open it. Change the level back to private and the link stops working.
How do I share a session with my coach?

Share it with them by name rather than making it public. You get a list of exactly who holds the session, and you can take it back. They find it beside their own sessions, under the ones shared with them.
Can I set the visibility once instead of per session?

Yes. Pick the visibility new sessions start at and you stop deciding each time. It applies from then on and does not change sessions you have already recorded.
How do I stay off the leaderboards?

Opt out of them. Your times stay out of the rankings without your sessions becoming private, and you keep your own comparisons, your own theoretical best and your own history.
Can I delete my sessions or my account?

Yes. Delete a session from its details in the app or in the web analyzer, and it leaves your history, your comparisons and the leaderboards. Delete your account in the app settings, and your sessions go with it.
Changing a session's visibility never deletes anything: a private session keeps its results.
