Throughout its history, the circuit has hosted numerous national championships including the Italian Touring Car Championship, Italian Formula 3, and various motorcycle racing series. The track has undergone multiple renovations to improve safety standards and facilities, with major upgrades completed in 2005 and 2015. Beyond competitive racing, Varano has gained prominence as a development facility for automotive manufacturers and racing teams, with Dallara in particular utilizing the circuit extensively for testing their race cars.
