History

The venue's heritage began in 1952 when American forces established the NATO air base. The US Air Force operated the facility from 1953 to 1967, after which it transferred to the French Air Force. During the 1970s, while the base was largely abandoned, amateur drivers and motorcyclists utilized the runways and taxiways for weekend racing, creating makeshift chicanes to control speeds on the long straights.

In 2008, the Lorraine region acquired the property, leading to the construction of the current circuit configuration in 2009, built separate from the original aircraft runways. The site gained additional fame as home to the Mondial Air Ballons, the world's largest hot air balloon gathering, held biannually. In 2022, GĂ©oparc acquired the circuit, initiating plans for significant facility improvements and track modifications.
