Monticello Karting and Motor Club lap times
Timed from GPS on real track days, not typed in. Compare within one layout and one vehicle class, because a motorcycle lap and a car lap are not the same thing.

About Monticello Karting and Motor Club
Overview
Monticello Karting and Motor Club is a private karting club in Jefferson County, Florida, about 30 minutes from Tallahassee, at 1765 Big Joe Road outside Monticello. It is not an amusement venue: the track is the centre of a club for people who own and race their own karts, with practice whenever the circuit is open, a monthly sprint championship and a driver's school. Members pay a low fee for practice and race entries, juniors under 15 pay less, and non-members can also practise and race for a higher day fee. The club also sells karts and parts from its showroom as a dealer for IAME and Birel.
Technical Specifications and Track Features
The circuit was designed by Pablo Montoya, father of the Indy 500 winner and Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya. The club publishes it as just over one mile long and 27 feet wide, with 19 turns that are each named after a Formula One champion, from Ayrton Senna at turn one through Fangio, Lauda, Prost and Schumacher to Jody Scheckter at turn nineteen. Juan Pablo Montoya himself gives his name to turn five. The full lap starts on a straight beside the paddock, runs through a fast diagonal to a long straight along the northern tree line, wraps around a grassy mound at the eastern end and then winds back through a series of inner hairpins before a crossing in the middle of the site returns it to the start.
Link roads through the central crossing create a practice track of about 7/10 of a mile using turns 3 to 19, which members use when the shorter 4/10 mile circuit is busy with the driving school. Results and lap times are published through MYLAPS Speedhive.
Facilities and Specialized Areas
The paddock runs along the southern edge of the site with a covered area and club buildings beside the start straight. Club races follow a professional format with qualifying and a main event, and classes run from Kid Kart for drivers aged five to seven and Cadet for seven to twelve up to teenage and adult categories. Drivers new to club karts have attended a training course covering the karts, the equipment, wheel to wheel rules and twenty laps of the circuit. After the Florida Department of Agriculture changed its rules for kart tracks, the club stopped offering rental karts and is open to drivers who own karts or want to buy one.
History
The track was founded by Jean Christophe Courreges, a French former Formula 3 driver who settled in Tallahassee, together with Tim Phipps. After looking at land in Gadsden, Leon and Jefferson counties they chose a 100 acre property, built most of the facility themselves and had a contractor pave the circuit, which opened in March 2006. In its early years the club ran Easykart karts, an Italian make imported to the Americas by Montoya, and hosted a Grand National race each September whose winner travelled to the world final in Italy. In 2012 complex.com listed the track among the ten coolest go-kart tracks in the world, and in 2018 it featured in an episode of WFSU's Local Routes.
