History

Road America's rich history dates back to 1955, when it was constructed following the ban of racing on public roads in the wake of a tragic accident at the 1952 Watkins Glen race. The circuit's first race was held on September 10, 1955, with Phil Hill winning in a Ferrari Monza. Throughout its existence, Road America has hosted numerous prestigious racing series, including CART/Champ Car, IndyCar, IMSA, NASCAR, and the American Le Mans Series. Legendary drivers such as Mario Andretti, Paul Newman, and Dario Franchitti have all competed and won at this iconic venue.
