The Varano Circuit was inaugurated in 1969 and has since established itself as a significant venue in Italian motorsport. In 1990, it was renamed Autodromo Riccardo Paletti to honor the young Formula 1 driver who tragically lost his life at the 1982 Canadian Grand Prix. Throughout its history, the circuit has hosted numerous national championships including the Italian Touring Car Championship, Italian Formula 3, and various motorcycle racing series. The track has undergone multiple renovations to improve safety standards and facilities, with major upgrades completed in 2005 and 2015.
